Over the
Rainbow is a compelling award-winning musical, which
tells the life story of the legendary Eva Cassidy.
Following her life through dramatic scenes and
stunning live renditions of her most infamous songs,
Over the Rainbow is a haunting ode to one of music’s
forgotten greats. This Award Winning Show has
received plaudits from the Eva Cassidy Band, members
of the Cassidy family and contains projection and
original footage from Eva’s life. The narrative
follows Eva from an early age to her first
professional gig aged 18, her first meeting with her
boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo, a rabble-rousing
recording at Blues Alley with Chuck Brown and
culminating in her poignant and tragic death.
Before she
died at the tender age of 33, she was unknown
outside
Washington, USA but within 2 years, she
was discovered by Terry Wogan who promoted her music
to the top of the album charts in the
UK and now
Europe,
Australia and throughout the
World.
As a
world-class cast of actors and musicians recreate
her original arrangements and recordings, the show
pays a genuine and heartfelt tribute to a true
artist who was not interested in fame and fortune,
but wanted nothing more than to create beautiful
music. From its’ first performance in 2004, Over the
Rainbow, has moved people immensely with sell-out
performances and standing ovations throughout the
UK and Europe.
Linda and Maureen Nolan In Pantomime Together This Christmas
Sisters will certainly be doing it
for themselves this Christmas – The Nolan sisters, that is. Two of
the iconic songstresses – Maureen
and Linda – will be sharing
centre stage at The Shaw Theatre, Euston London, this Christmas, in
a pantomime presentation of JACK AND THE BEANSTALK.
“To have one Nolan sister is a blessing; to have two, is pure
magic,” comments producer Tom Morris, of James Hill Pantomimes Ltd,
the company behind this year’s seasonal show. “I’ve always been a
fan of The Nolans – I don’t think there’s a single person in Britain
who hasn’t danced to I’m In The Mood at a party, or wedding, or
disco. It’s part of British pop culture, and is a testament to the
legacy that the Nolan family had on popular music in its day, but
also more recently in terms of musical theatre and acting. The whole
family has done so much,
they are a true showbiz dynasty of the modern era.”
Maureen will be playing the ditzy Fairy Sugarsnap – a hopeless
guardian of the vegetables, who longs to be elevated to the dizzy
heights of Fairy Godmotherdom. But before she earns her wings she’ll
have to help our titular hero defeat the Giant Blunderbore in his
Castle in the Sky.
Opposite Maureen, Linda will play the glamorous Venus Flytrap, a
calculating sorceress who carries out Giant Blunderbore’s dirty
work. “I’m particularly excited about a new sub-plot we’re
introducing for Maureen and Linda’s characters; I don’t want to spoil it
too much, but these sisters offstage might very well be playing
sisters ON stage, too!”
“My creative team and myself are particularly excited about working
with Maureen & Linda. They have reputations as incredibly
hard-working professionals, and as being two of the loveliest ladies
in show business. I’m also looking forward to meeting
all their fans, of course!”
“Book now! It’s going to be a fantastic production – London’s
best-value pantomime – and no doubt youwill hear the girls sing the
Sister’s most iconic anthem!”
Joining Maureen and Linda at The Shaw pantomime will be an all-star
cast.
